Exploring The Complexities of Perfectionism: A Double-edged Sword

Exploring The Complexities of Perfectionism: A Double-edged Sword Are you the type of person who often has exceedingly high standards for yourself? Do you often struggle to live up to your own expectations, which constantly makes you feel inadequate and unfulfilled? Then you might be able to relate to this topic. Even though perfectionism  is mostly seen as a positive personality trait, in my opinion, it's not all sunshine and roses.   At first glance, you'd think striving for perfection would motivate you to be more productive and efficient, right?   Contrary to this belief, perfectionism comes with a great deal of anxiety and fear, which significantly disrupts the quality of your performance. This is mostly due to the fact that perfectionism is rooted in our insecurities and low self esteem issues. Usually, perfectionists are way too worried about their self-image and how people perceive them. They also often strive for validation. So, contrary to the notion that “failure is

Pink, is not only a color Last week, I bought a shaving cream which cost me bdt.1850 when I saw my dad buying a shaving cream only for bdt.1200. Some people might ask what pink tax is? It's a hidden tax that mostly impacts goods and services targeted at women, raising the cost of practically identical goods. Imagine rummaging through toys, clothes, shampoo, razors, and other items as you stroll down store aisles. Coming back to what I personally face every time when I buy razors. A small razor that both men and women use, it is shocking how the price varies so much.  Even though both types of razors are designed to remove hair, a simple razor sold towards women may cost a lot more than a similar razor marketed towards men. There is still a price difference even though the only obvious difference could be the color of the handle or maybe a floral aroma added to the women's version. Even when I go to the clothing stores, it is aston

Dopamine detox : the ultimate solution to all gen-z problems

Image
In a Gen-z's daily routine, there aren't much creative activities . Again their list of productive hobbies are also narrow . Now let's think about millennials . 'Almost every millennial youth lived like a main character ' , I always say this to define them in short . These guys were doing everything from studies to sports to cultural and social activities . They lived like the heroes of their own stories.  Using the term ' main character ' is a bit ironic. As us gen-zs created this slang but failed to be one.  "Gen-z", the most lost generation with lives filled with constant stimulation and digital distractions. We are always overwhelmed, anxious and unfulfilled. From social media notifications to endless scrolling, our brains are obsessed with quick dopamine hits, leaving us craving more , refraining from productivity .But what if I tell you that there’s a solution i used to break free from this cycle? Enters the dopamine detox, a powerful too

Unexplored treasures of Bangladesh

Unexplored treasures of Bangladesh  When we think of tourist places the spots that come to our mind are Bandarban, Coxs Bazar, and Sand Rimangal. But there are some spots which are unknown to us like Debotakhum(situated in Bandarban). These are some unexplored heaven that we need to represent in front of the world. These places have adventure, natural beauty, and many more to open up .places like Debotakhum don't need luxurious arrangements to attract the attention of tourists, the natural beauty is more than enough to mesmerize. Baniachong Swap Forest is another attractive spot. Countries like Maldives, and Thailand make a lot of contributions to their GDP by utilizing their tourist spots. They successfully portray their natural beauty in such a way that people all over the world tend to spend their vacations on that spot. No matter how costly the places are people like to spend quality time there. Maldives have only sea beaches. So they planned their res

Keys to Getting a Better Physique: A Fitness Journey

Image
Socrates once said “No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.”  Have you ever wondered how happy we would’ve been if we achieved our dream body? More or less we’ve all wanted it. Didn’t we all, even sometimes in our lives, before going to bed or after waking up in the morning, stand in front of the mirror of our room/bathroom and stare at the mirror and zone out thinking about our body or how it could’ve been? Kudos to those who were always content with their body. Getting your dream body isn’t that hard. It’s all about perseverance and dedication.  Have you ever seen the demolition and construction of a building? It takes 2-3 years to construct a building. But it only takes 2 months to demolish it. Just like that, getting fit from fat might be easier than skinny to fit. My fitness journey Started in September (2021) when I was weighing only 57 Kil

UNIVERSITY LIFE TILL NOW Hello there, I'm Prottoy. I am currently studying Computer Science and Engineering at BRAC University. As a fresher the first semester has been a roller coaster ride for me. Faced some hard times along with moments to cherish about. I'm just gonna share some here. As I'm not a native dweller of Dhaka city, it was kind of a struggle for me to fit in here. New atmosphere, new people around me, new social life everything was slaggy at start. It didn't last long though. My roommate is my school's childhood friend so it was an advantage. My two other flatmates were also very nice and friendly, which eased many things for us. First day of the university was also very memorable for me. Even though I'm not a very shy person It felt kind of odd to me to talk to someone at first. I still talked with the guy named Yamin who sat beside me and came to know each other. He is my best university mate till date. After all the classes en

Football: Unveiling Magic on the Field

Image
Tanvir Hasan Alid ID:24101145    Football has its very own legacy in the realm of the sports universe.  For certain people; it may seem just like a sport, but for me it's an emotion. The amount of thrill, enjoyment football gives can’t be described in words. A number of people captivated by its magic on the field and so do I. Football has its crazy fan base across the world. It is said that football fans are the craziest ones. The craziness and madness knows no bounds when any national or international tournament comes up. To me, it creates a totally different kind of environment, as people showing madness and craziness for their favorite football team. During any popular football tournament, people support their favorite team by making memes, funny videos, organizing huge programmes in university halls etc. The following picture is located in Dhaka University during a match of FIFA World Cup 2022, between Brazil and Switzerland.       Craziness of this game o

Escape into Nature: Terms and Conditions apply

If you visit Chittagong and wish to spend some quality time in the midst of natural beauty without burning a hole in your pocket, I would suggest you to visit the Bhatiari and Patenga Sea Beach. As Chittagong has hills, Sea and lakes one might get confused about how to visit all these places in a short period of time. These two places offer you the best of both worlds and you can explore them without much hassle. Let’s start talking about them:  Bhatiari: It’s situated about 17 km from the city center. Beautiful lakes and hills adorn the landscape. Roads going through the hills like snake seems magical during evening and the lakes look like mirror when sunlight shines on its surface. If you can spare some extra money, you can enjoy a boat ride in the Bhatiari lake. Sunset point is a must visit spot if you visit Bhatiari. From its vantage point, you can see the Bangladesh Military Academy against the backdrop of Bay of Bengal. You can see ships from there too. As the name suggests, the

Admission War: Public Vs Private Dilemma

Image
Name : Nafi Nowaisir Chowdhury ID : 24101162 Bengali , one of the most impulsive , emotional and deluded breeds that has ever graced this mother earth will always debate on educational institutions and specifically 'public Vs private ' debate stays as the most hyped ones . Almost all the Bangladeshi's can relate to this topic and this never ending debate will always be relevant by producing controversies and the conflicts of thoughts of the general mass. As the topic is one of the most anticipated ones I won't be indulging myself to put some common facts or stats that can be easily found on the internet rather I would put my own point of view on this matter. I believe everyone in this country who has gotten Steamrolled through our education system had felt the urge to put on his thoughts about this matter for at least once in his life period . Let's start the discussion by justifying the word 'War ' that I have used in my title or should I really need to d

Running Through the Layers of Thoughts: Escaping not Allowed

Image
I am a pondering soul who is hopeless about her thoughts if those can ever have a good end any day. Thoughts have created hills and waves in my little mind. There is a whole world in my head though the head is out of storage.  For example, thinking all day long about Geet just after I watched Jab We Met. My obsession is felt to cross the limit when I ask Google "Bhatinda or Delhi- which place can make one be more like Geet- the coolest, simplest girl ever?" Her free style catches my eyes while accepting how cringe she is.  Again it is me when I am saying- I am in love with Nira from The Fallen Leaf. She is the definition of the beauty of the fallen leaf. Her bravery is of another level but the experiences she shared about life and death are the reason to fall for her. I used to like her so much that I thought after Titanic this series is the one to deserve an Oscar.  The point is the same me declaring two wholly different characters as perfect. Now this confusion invites a

I like ducks and why YOU should too

Image
When I say I like  ducks , I really do mean it.    What's not to like about them? Firstly, they're cute to look at. You can't tell me you have never seen a baby duckling, barely the size of an apple, run while stomping their disproportionately long webbed feet up and down, trying to catch up with their friend and not feel the tiniest bit of affection for the little fur-ball. I dare you to see if you can control not fawning over this  video . Secondly, have you ever seen a duck fight? They not only share familial ties with the aggressive temperamental geese but share some of the same fighting genes as well. Don’t believe me? Tell me, who do you think would win in a  fight between a Duck & a Chicken ? The duck has a larger beak, a relatively bigger stature, the eyes of a killer, and the body of a world-class  Olympic Swimmer . Their feathers are sharp and coated with wax, absolutely waterproof. Eyes that can see both front and back. Intelligence that can make even the sma

Football: Media of Communication

Image
Suppose you are walking and suddenly a football rolls over to you, your immediate reaction would be to kick the ball to the place it came from, and if you are not busy then, you would offer yourself to a team and play with them for hours and hours even if you don't know them. This is a sort of conversation where you don't have to actually know which language the person in front of  you speaks and yet can communicate with him. As human beings, we are bound to socialize and the media for socialization include talking, hand gestures and a rather less noticed medium is sports. These sports draw so much emotions from people specially in football, fan's emotions can be intense. Whether celebrating victories or suffering defeats, the emotional rollercoaster of football fandom creates a shared experience among them . Football has the ability to create bonds among people across various countries. The FIFA World Cup provides such a platform for people to connect with people from oth
