Bengali , one of the most impulsive , emotional and deluded breeds that has ever graced this mother earth will always debate on educational institutions and specifically 'public Vs private ' debate stays as the most hyped ones . Almost all the Bangladeshi's can relate to this topic and this never ending debate will always be relevant by producing controversies and the conflicts of thoughts of the general mass. As the topic is one of the most anticipated ones I won't be indulging myself to put some common facts or stats that can be easily found on the internet rather I would put my own point of view on this matter. I believe everyone in this country who has gotten Steamrolled through our education system had felt the urge to put on his thoughts about this matter for at least once in his life period . Let's start the discussion by justifying the word 'War ' that I have used in my title or should I really need to do that though ? I mean it's not rocket science to understand it even if you are not directly related to the curriculum . Our country has a huge population of more than 170 Million but the number of seats that are allocated in public universities are inadequate compared to the number of higher secondary level graduated students .Though if you consider both public and private then the seat numbers are perfectly fine to fit the students and give them the chance to continue with their higher studies .

There can be many sub reasons for different individuals for their obsession and dependency to get him/her enrolled in a public university but I want to mention the most common reasons for which I compared it with war and why I think it's a never ending loop just like the vicious cycle of poverty . The very first reason that comes to my mind is that as a nation we aren't really that sophisticated . Being the citizens of a third world country we have to get ourselves reminded of our limitations. Most of our people face hard times to even meet their basic needs . You cannot search or even enjoy the beauty of this world if you can't satisfy your biological needs as it's the inevitable thing for any living beings to survive and humans are not superficial to that .So whatever we do the very first thing that hits our mind is that is it enough to ensure our food safety , health or other humanitarian needs .We cannot even think of other things even if we really want to . As a result most of the Bangladeshi students study only to earn money for himself and his/her family . Thus the core purpose of education isn't even on the main focus here . They consider educating as a pathway or a medium to get themselves out of poverty and it's one of the main reasons why we are lagging behind in almost every sector be it on sports , other creative fields or even education based research. The public universities serve the exact same thing as the tuition fees there is nothing compared to the private universities and it's the most attractive reason. As the money is on the line , a competitive entrance exam is bound to happen . And this is what happens in every public university and students try their heart out to get themselves enrolled in one of them . If anyone succeeds in winning the battle , it not only gives them money related safety but also makes them superior to others according to society. The level of education here comes at the bottom of the priority list . Though the acceptance rate here is even lower than some of the IVY league Colleges but the quality of education here is questionable . Even the top most Universities like BUET , Dhaka University ranks in between 800-1200 whereas multiple universities from our neighbouring countries ranks in between 1-200 , which is a great matter of concern but our minds aren't even built broader enough to give a thought about that. We are busy bullying and shaming the losers announced by society. The psychological leap one gets only by cracking a top public university is unimaginable and sometimes this superficial feeling of thinking of oneself as a superior human being builds fake confidence in oneself and sabotages all the possibilities of self-improvement. The scenes are changing gradually and we cannot overlook the number of students who are getting themselves admitted into top private universities even though getting a chance in reputed public universities. It is very immature and childish behaviour to defame private universities and their students. Constructive criticisms should always be welcomed irrespective of their kind but unnecessary trolling and shaming someone only because they are related to private universities , shows our narrow minds and cheap thoughts. Even some of the top private universities are doing a really good job to ensure quality education and they are giving tough competition to some of the prominent public universities as well. Rather than throwing mud at each other, we should talk about the actual problem which is the quality of education we are getting and how to improve ourselves by involving in practical knowledge-based tasks and doing proper research according to our major. Self-improvement, such as learning new skills, acquiring knowledge, reading books, and engaging in extracurricular activities, is the only way to succeed, regardless of the university you graduated from.
