Engineer's Life: Expectation vs Reality

Every year, many passionate students enter the field of engineering, but some end up feeling regretful after a few months. Dealing with consistent pressure can be challenging, especially when it comes to tasks such as submitting assignments, completing lab work, and taking midterms. What is worse, students come to this field believing that they don’t need to memorize anymore. Unfortunately, the reality is they need to memorize even mathematics often.

Waking up at 6 am, and then rushing to the university is a common routine for most students. Let's not even bother talking about that unfinished task they do during class. Forgetting the syllabus of the upcoming exam is a common disease for them. Sometimes students carry coffee instead of water in their water bottles. Consequently, dark circles around the eyes have become a common identifier for students who are pursuing engineering.

Expectation vs Reality in Studies:

When students start their first semester in university, they are at their top motivation of getting CG 4.0. After passing some months, they get a reality check and try to survive in that semester. Students are more likely to be confident in the exam hall, but their faculty leaves no stone unturned to leave them in a worse situation. Moreover, most of the students are likely to finish their syllabus at the eleventh hour, that is why, they try to become more smarter by practicing the important topics. Sometimes, they become surprised by the faculty who choose every single unimportant topic for the exam paper.

Students wish for getting an excellent result in academic life. They target for CG 4 at the beginning of their university life. Unfortunately, they become worried about the assurance of getting CG 3 at the end.

Expectation vs Reality in Lab Work:

Lab work has always been a mystery for many students. No matter how many times you read the theory, you can’t get the expected result at the last minute. This is the inevitable part of almost all the students. You can’t escape this one. In evaluation tasks, students often need to read the theory part for the first time despite getting a huge time for that. They need to depend on the mighty Indian youtubers like Physics Wallah, Apna College, Neso Academy and So on.

Expectation vs Reality in Celebration:

After enduring the pain of varsity life for an extended period, a holiday break finally arrives. Although they are granted a rare two to four consecutive days off, unfinished lab work, pending assignments, and other tasks prevent them from fully enjoying their holiday. At the end of the day, they can’t figure out why they got the holidays.

Students have to complete their due assignments before the holiday ends. We can celebrate with family and friends just for a little time. However, some people can actually enjoy with family members because of their management skill. They somehow manage to celebrate along with the pressure.

Honestly speaking, students come into this field to enhance their creativity. Moreover, they wish to have a luxurious life with his/her family members after making a unicorn company.
Sacrificing happiness to start a company like Elon Musk or Bill Gates has always been a dream for many, but they struggle to complete their university tasks on time.

The branch of engineering always has been an asset in creating a modern civilization. Creativity along with proper dedication makes it possible to create unimaginable things. A proper sleep can gift such creativity. May all the engineers around the world sleep at least 6 hours. Eventually, the world will see the consequences within a decade of this.
